Edgewater, an Improvement District A self-governing body with a board of Trustees and annual elections and so on, the Edgewater Improvement District is responsible for the water system street lighting and the Edgewater Hall. The E.I.D. supplies water at various rates for Personal Households, Multi-family, and commercial.  These rates are quite reasonable compared to others in commercial areas of the Valley.   For new lots, there is a Capital Development Charge to new water services to cover the cost of expanding and improving the modern water system. . Fire Protection is also a responsibility of the Edgewater Improvement District, the volunteer force practices each Monday Night and welcomes new members. The excellent Edgewater Hall is run by the elected directors of the Recreation Society, always appreciating help and attendence at their events. The Regional District of East Kootenay operates the large Sewer System.  Now in the process of adding an aereation plant, they charge a low monthly amount and a small Capital Development Charge as well. Ministry of Transportation and Highways is responsible for roadside maintenance and snow removal. Other provincial bodies come into play in other areas. The Edgewater District Layout was planned with a huge Terrain Map. A legendary Irrigation Flume serves acreage around Edgewater in the Summer. Town water has gone as far as  Highway 95 where our natural acreage offers a convenient combination of privacy with good services and access. This old terrain map shows the area South of Edgewater long before the new highway at the right was finished.
